THE NEEDLES - BAND OF THE WEEK

Dave Dixon - guitar, vocals
Paul Curtiss - bass
Richey Wolfe – keyboards, vocals
Johnny Wolfe – drums, vocals

The Needles - the best Aberdonian export since North Sea oil, and much more tuneful. Dave, Paul and the Brothers Wolfe joined up at school in the late 1990s with the odd release on local label Lithium. When Lithium collapsed, the Needles popped over to Dangerous Records and released their 'Under The City' EP in 2004. Much love from music mags and New Zealand DJs followed. They've supported the Young Knives, Bloc Party, and some lot called Muse. Debut album 'In Search Of The Needles' is out now

INFLUENCES
1950s rock and roll, such as Buddy Holly; they also loved grunge and rock when starting

THEY SAY
"Jacuzzis and private jets – all the trappings of the material world - would be fine, but we know that rock n’ roll is pure madness and folly. The people understand. Even if they don’t know it yet…they understand. Because The Needles fan is the wise man"- Dave Dixon

WE SAY
The Needles are a funky, punky blast of fresh air blowing into the current emo and nu-rave sodden musical landscape. Great fun to listen to - fast paced jabs of sonic joy. Check out 'Dianne' for an excellent example...

SAMPLE LYRICS
“Don't you wonder why I dress in grey / by the neon lights of the esplanade? / I just wanna present something permanent / in the black and white world”– ‘Girl I Used To Know ’

SIGNED
Yes. To Dangerous Records. Single 'Girl I Used To Know' is released on April 2nd.

WATCH
We've got the video to 'Girl I Used To Know' up to watch. Cartoons aren't just for kids...
